About the App
EdgeVault is an iOS app for knife collectors and sharpeners. Track every knife in your collection with steel, specs, and photos. Log sharpening sessions with the stones used, angle, duration, and before/after photos. Manage your whetstone library, record daily EDC carries, save a wishlist, and generate shareable image cards for Reddit and Instagram — all stored privately on your device.
All data you save stays on your device. Nothing is sent to external servers.
Features
- Knife Collection — Log brand, model, steel type, blade shape, blade length, total length, lock type, handle material, acquired from, purchase price, and photo. Free up to 10 knives.
- Sharpening Sessions — Record stones used (in order), edge angle, duration, sharpness rating (1–5 stars), before/after photos, and notes. See at a glance how long since each knife was last sharpened.
- Whetstone Library — Track every stone: brand, name, grit, type (water / oil / diamond / ceramic / strop), surface condition, last dressed date, notes, and photo. Free up to 10 stones.
- EDC Log — Record which knife you carried each day. Tap any day on the monthly calendar to see logs for that date. Tap a log entry to edit knife or date.
- Wishlist — Save knives you want to buy with brand, model, steel, estimated price, notes, and photo. Mark as purchased and the app pre-fills the knife registration form automatically. Free up to 10 items.
- Share Cards — Generate shareable image cards for any knife or sharpening session. Post to r/knives, r/sharpening, r/knifeclub, or Instagram. Free (with watermark) — Pro removes the watermark.
- Stats — Collection total value, sharpening frequency, most-sharpened knives, most-used whetstones, average sharpness rating, and EDC rotation history. Access from Settings.
- CSV Export — Export knives, whetstones, sharpening sessions, wishlist, and EDC logs as CSV files (spreadsheet-friendly, no photos). Available on the free plan.
- Photo ZIP Backup — Export a full backup with photos as a ZIP, and import it from Settings. Available on the free plan.
- Currency Selection — Choose your display currency (USD, JPY, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, CHF, KRW) in Settings. Defaults to your device locale.

Q. What is EdgeVault Pro?
A one-time purchase ($6.99) that removes the 10-item limit across knives, whetstones, and wishlist, removes the watermark from share cards, and lets you set a custom Instagram handle on cards. Pay once — no recurring fees, ever.
Q. How do I log a sharpening session?
Open any knife’s detail page and tap Add Sharpening Session. Select the whetstones you used (in order), enter the angle, duration, and sharpness rating. Optionally add before/after photos and notes. The session is linked to that knife and appears in its history.
Q. What are Share Cards?
Share Cards let you generate a clean image card from any knife or sharpening session and share it to Reddit, Instagram, or anywhere else via the standard iOS share sheet. Free users get a watermark; Pro users can remove it or replace it with their Instagram handle.
Q. What is the EDC Log?
EDC stands for Every Day Carry — the knife you take with you each day. The EDC Log lets you tap a date on the monthly calendar and record which knife you carried. Tap a log entry to edit the knife or date.
Q. If I mark a wishlist item as purchased, what happens?
After marking as purchased, the app asks whether you’d like to add it to your knife collection. If you confirm, the knife registration form opens pre-filled with the brand, model, steel, price, and notes from the wishlist item — saving you from entering the data twice.
Q. Where is my data stored?
Everything is saved locally on your iPhone. No cloud uploads. No account required.
Q. Can I purchase Pro anytime?
Yes. Open Settings in the app to purchase at any time. It’s a one-time purchase — no recurring fees.
Q. How do I restore a previous Pro purchase?
Tap Restore Purchases in Settings. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Q. Can I export my data as CSV?
Yes. Go to Settings → Export CSV to export knives, whetstones, sharpening sessions, wishlist items, and EDC logs (spreadsheet-friendly, no photos). Available on the free plan.
Q. Can I back up my data with photos?
Yes. Go to Settings → Export with photos (ZIP) to create a full backup including photos. To restore, use Settings → Import backup (ZIP) and select a ZIP exported by EdgeVault. Available on the free plan. Note: importing adds records (it does not merge or replace existing ones). Free-plan limits still apply.
Q. Can I sync across multiple iPhones or iPads?
Not at this time. Data is stored locally on each device only. You can move data using the photo ZIP backup export/import. Your data stays safely on the device you use.
Q. Can I change the currency display?
Yes. Go to Settings → Currency to choose from USD, JPY, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, CHF, or KRW. All prices in the app update to display in your selected currency. The app defaults to your device’s locale on first launch.

Q. EDC ログとはどんな機能ですか？
EDC（Every Day Carry）は毎日持ち歩くナイフのことです。月カレンダーから日付を選んでその日に携帯したナイフを記録し、過去の携帯履歴をカレンダー形式で振り返れます。ログをタップするとナイフや日付を編集できます。
Q. ウィッシュリストを購入済みにするとどうなりますか？
購入済みに変更すると、コレクションに追加するか確認ダイアログが表示されます。「追加する」を選ぶと、ブランド・モデル・鋼材・価格・メモがウィッシュリストから自動入力された状態でナイフ登録フォームが開きます。
Q. 保存したデータはどこに保管されますか？
すべてあなたの iPhone 内（端末ローカル）に保存されます。クラウドや外部サーバーへのアップロードは行いません。
Q. Pro はいつでも購入できますか？
はい。アプリ内の「設定」画面からいつでもご購入いただけます。買い切りのため、一度購入すれば追加費用なくずっとご利用いただけます。
Q. 以前購入した Pro を復元するには？
「設定」画面内の「購入を復元」から復元できます。購入時と同じ Apple ID でサインインした状態でお試しください。
Q. データの CSV エクスポートはできますか？
はい。「設定」→「CSVエクスポート」から、ナイフ・砥石・研ぎ履歴・ウィッシュリスト・EDCログを CSV 形式で書き出せます（表計算用・写真なし）。無料版でも利用できます。
Q. 写真込みでバックアップできますか？
はい。「設定」→「写真込みで書き出す（ZIP）」で写真付きのフルバックアップを作成できます。復元は「設定」→「バックアップを取り込む（ZIP）」から、EdgeVaultで書き出したZIPを選択してください。無料版でも利用できます。取り込みは追記のみで、既存データとのマージや置き換えは行いません。無料枠の登録上限は引き続き適用されます。
Q. 複数の iPhone や iPad で同期できますか？
現在はローカル保存のみで、端末間の自動同期には対応していません。写真込みZIPバックアップの書き出し／取り込みでデータを移せます。データはすべてお使いの端末内に安全に保管されます。
Q. 通貨の表示を変えられますか？
はい。「設定」→「通貨」から USD・JPY・EUR・GBP・CAD・AUD・CHF・KRW を選択できます。アプリ内の価格表示がすべて切り替わります。初回起動時は端末のロケールに合わせて自動設定されます。
